BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington police report a Bloomington man died from injuries he suffered by an alleged drunk driver.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder reports Dezel Dotts, 26, died Tuesday evening at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

According to a news release, preliminary autopsy reports indicate Dotts died from cerebral and cervical injuries after being hit by a car.

Police report Thomas Hall, 61, of Bloomington, allegedly hit Dotts on Saturday evening at Six Points Road and Juniper Lane.

Authorities say Hall allegedly fled from the scene and was later found walking near Four Seasons Road and Ross Drive.

This week, prosecutors charged Hall with two counts of aggravated DUI and one count of failure to report an accident.

According to our news partner, Heart of Illinois ABC, McLean County State’s Attorney Don Knapp said he anticipates his office will upgrade the charges.

Hall remains in the McLean County jail on a $200,000 bond, meaning he has to post $20,000 to be released.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
