Hospitals nearing capacity in McLean County as officials report 95 new cases of COVID-19

BLOOMINGTON – Hospitals in the twin cities are near capacity as health officials report 95 new cases of COVID-19.

The McLean County Health Department reports 22 McLean County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, and eight residents from outside the county are hospitalized locally for the virus.

Authorities say 96% of ICU beds and 94% of total beds are used with COVID patients.

Additionally, officials report the county’s cumulative positivity rate remained steady at 47% from Tuesday, and the county’s 7-day rolling positivity rate increased to 4.1% from 3.8%.

542 people remain in home isolation, as 19,713 people have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.

Officials report approximately 179,768 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the county, and 52.10% of the population is fully vaccinated.

There have been 245 COVID-related deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic.
