CLINTON – A Wisconsin man involved in a standoff on U.S. 51 last week has been released on bond.
According to court records, Orsino Thurman, 36, of Wisconsin, was released from the DeWitt County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
On September 15, Thurman allegedly led Clinton Police on a lengthy chase after authorities responded to a domestic violence report.
In a press conference, Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers said Thurman was wanted on active warrants and was allegedly armed with multiple guns.
With the help of Illinois State Police SWAT, Thurman’s vehicle was stopped at U.S. 51 South of School Road in Macon County.
Chief Lowers said Thurman also had a baby on board, and the baby was returned to its mother, and no injuries were reported.
Thurman is facing 10 separate counts, including one count of child abduction, two counts of endangering a child’s life, and domestic battery.
Additionally, Thurman faces two counts of aggravated fleeing police and four counts of possession of a weapon by a felon.
