Coroner identifies Clinton man who drowned in lake

CLINTON – DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice has identified the person that drowned in the Clinton Lake.

Alan W. Bell, 65, of Clinton, was pronounced dead Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. at the Valley Mill Fishing Access, according to Rice.

Rice says the truck that Bell was driving went partially down an embankment at the lake. Bell exited the truck from the passenger side and he slipped into the lake, said Rice.

Authorities were called to the scene after a fisherman spotted the body in the water.

The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department, DeWitt County EMS, DeWitt County Coroner’s Office, Illinois State Police, Clinton Fire, and IDNR Conservation Police responded.
