BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Chamber of Commerce has hosted two job fairs over the last few months, but local businesses are still trying to fill more positions.

Chamber President and CEO Charlie Moore says if you missed either job fair you can still find openings on the chamber’s website – mcleancochamber.org. Moore spoke with WJBC’s Marc Strauss.

“There is not an employer in town that we know that isn’t looking for workforce in some way, shape, or form,” said Moore. “There is certainly more opportunity now than there ever has been to grow a career or upscale and try something different.”

During both job fairs,, over 40 local employers were looking to hire for 1,800 immediate openings.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
