MACKINAW – A 17-year-old man is being tried as an adult and faces murder charges — along with the other two adults previously named after a woman was killed and a man wounded in a shooting Friday night in Mackinaw.

Andre Street, 17; Nathaniel Maloney, 18; and Sage Raeuber, 19, each face single counts of first-degree murder with intent, knowing such an act creates a strong probability of death and attempted murder.

Bond for both Street and Maloney was set at $2 million. Bond for Raeuber was set at $1.5 million.

A Tazewell County Jail employee told our news partner, Heart of Illinois ABC, that Street is currently being held at a facility in Peoria and his mug shot was not available.

A fourth person, a juvenile female, is also charged with first-degree murder, according to Tazewell County Sheriff Jeff Lower.

Redacted portions of the probable cause affidavit show an unknown person admitted within the past couple of weeks that the four had entered into a plan to kill.

The person stated that Raeuber was to drive Maloney and Street to a residence and that after gunshots were heard, went upstairs and observed both in the residence.

Raeuber was later interviewed — she stated someone had offered to pay an unknown person, Maloney and Street to kill.

She drove Maloney and Street to a residence on October 22 — they subsequently entered the residence with firearms previously provided by an unknown person.

After Raeuber heard gunshots and Maloney and Street exited the residence, She drove them away from the scene — dropping Street off at a residence in Peoria.

On October 24, Street was interviewed where he admitted to entering into a plan with an unknown person, Maloney and Raeuber to kill.

Street and Maloney exited the vehicle with firearms provided by an unknown person, entered the residence and fired multiple rounds at Rebecca and Douglas Bolin.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

By Mike Matejka Because of COVID, there is no Labor Day Parade this year.  It’s always a great event for our everyday workers to march proudly down the street and enjoys the festive crowd. If there had been a parade, this year’s Labor Day theme was to be “150 years of struggle: your right to vote.” …

Is federal mobilization the answer?

By Mike Matejka As President Donald Trump threatens to send federal marshals into Chicago, over the objections of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
