NORMAL – It’s been quite the run for the Normal West FFA Livestock Judging Team.

They’ve gone back-to-back years winning the prestigious American Royal in Kansas City. Lauren Mohr is a team member.

“A lot of us have grown up around livestock and high quality livestock so we kind of get that background from there and going to national shows and hearing judges talk about the classes there,” said Mohr. “We’ve also looked at a lot of classes online and have used livestockjudging.com to kind of help us as well. But also our judging coaches sit in and listen to us give reasons.”

Mohr currently serves as the Illinois FFA Reporter. Preston Rhode and Paige Lemenager are also on the team.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
