SPRINGFIELD – With a handful of Democrats already declaring, there is finally a Republican apparently ready for a run for secretary of state – and it’s a local lawmaker.
State Rep. Dan Brady’s (R-Bloomington) background is as a funeral director, and he is a former McLean County coroner first elected to the Illinois House in the year 2000. He’s amended the paperwork of his campaign committee to reflect he is running not for a twelfth term in the House but, rather, for secretary of state to succeed longtime Democrat incumbent Jesse White.
So, almost a year before the election, Brady could be ready to introduce himself to voters statewide.
