BLOOMINGTON – District 87 has finalized a contract with the man they want to lead the Bloomington school district when long-time Superintendent Barry Reilly retires next summer.

The school board Wednesday night voted unanimously in favor of the three-year agreement with David Mouser, who has been the superintendent of Tri-Valley CUSD #3 in nearby Downs since 2014.

The contract pays Mouser $215,000 the first year, but he could make more depending on the outcome of annual performance reviews with the school board.

Mouser was picked among 37 candidates. He takes over July 1, replacing Reilly who’s been with District 87 for 33 years, the last 11 as superintendent.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
