U of I to switching to remote learning to kick off the spring semester

CHAMPAIGN – As cases of COVID-19 surge, the University of Illinois announced their three campuses would start the spring semester with remoting learning.

According to a news release, the Chicago campus will move to remote learning for two weeks, starting Jan. 10, while the Urbana-Champaign campus will move to remote learning for one week from Jan. 18-23.

The university’s third campus in Springfield is set to return to in-person classes as scheduled.

Regardless of vaccination status, the school said all students, faculty, and staff are required to get a COVID-19 class before returning to the classroom.

The school said students in residential housing are required to get a weekly COVID-19 test.

At last count, the COVID-19 vaccination rate at all campuses is more than 95%.
