BLOOMINGTON – Firefighters from multiple departments have been battling a fire at Victory Church in Bloomington.
Senior Pastor Ed Herald says earlier this afternoon, he was notified by an alarm system that a fire alarm was going off.
Herald searched the cameras of the building until he saw smoke coming from the west wing. He says that’s where the children’s ministry and a kitchen are.
When he arrived to the church, he says fire teams were already on the scene.
Herald and several other church goers filled the parking lot. Many in tears, they say while it is devastating they will stay strong.
He says he doesn’t believe anyone is in the building.
He saw the smoke around noon.
Firefighters from Normal, Bloomington, Downs, and Le Roy all pitched in to help fight the fire.
There is no estimated damage, and details on what caused the fire.
