NORMAL – Normal Town Council member Scott Preston on Wednesday announced his candidacy for the 91st House District.
Preston, 34, is running as a Republican in the newly drawn 91st District which covers most of Bloomington-Normal and stretches west to Peoria.
“Illinois is a great state with amazing people, yet our state politicians continue to fail us,” said Preston in a news release. “As a lifelong resident and entrepreneur, I run for state representative to bring a fresh perspective and problem-solving mentality to the issues our communities face every day. We must prioritize getting our economy back on track, investing in our educational institutions, and defeating efforts to defund or lessen the powers of law enforcement.”
Preston was elected to the Normal Town Council in 2013 as the youngest council member in the town’s history. He was re-elected to the council in 2017 and 2021.
He is the founder and president of Preston Property Group, a real estate investment company.
