NORMAL – In an attempt to stop thieves in their tracks, the Normal Police Department is launching a social media campaign called “Manhunt Monday.”
Each week, the department displays photos of alleged criminals while in the act.
Brad Park, Public Information Officer with the Normal Police Department, said the social media campaign is something new the department is trying in 2022. He spoke with WJBC’s Todd Wineburner.
“We really try to reach out to our social media platforms, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. And we find it – it’s one way that we can try to help solve some of the cases that we kinda hit a roadblock on.”
In the latest edition, the department asks for the public’s help in identifying three suspects in a retail theft investigation.
“In 2022, we’re definitely going to try to make it an every Monday thing that if we have any pending cases – we can reach out through social media and ask for the community’s help in possibly identifying some suspects.”
So far, the campaign is paying dividends as the department’s first ‘Manhunt Monday’ post identified the suspect in under five minutes.
