MCHD reports over 1,100 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday

BLOOMINGTON – Three more McLean County residents have died from COVID-19 as health officials report 1,127 new cases of the virus since Friday.

McLean County Health Department officials report the latest deaths are one male in his 60’s, one male in his 80’s, and one female in her 80’s, none of which were associated with a long-term care facility.

There have been 332 COVID-related deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic.

At last count, 59 McLean County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, while 54 people are hospitalized in the twin cities with COVID complications.

In addition, officials report 2,843 people are isolated at home, while over 42,000 positive cases have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.

The county’s cumulative positivity rate increased to 5.6% from 5.5% on Friday, while the rolling 7-day positivity rate decreased to 10.5% from 14.0%.

The health department reports that 259,107 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the county on the vaccine front.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 61.80% of Illinois residents are fully vaccinated.
