BLOOMINGTON- Illinois State University’s App safe Redbirds is getting good reviews by Normal Police. Community Services Officer Brad Park and Normal Police work with Illinois State Police to patrol the Town of Normal.

Safe Redbirds can be downloaded in your phones app store, requires no charge and has a list of emergency contacts that can be called including Illinois State Police, Student Counseling Services and a PATH( a mental health hotline.) Park issues tips for students to stay safe on campus.

‘If you are going from point A to point B it’s just always to stay aware, whether you are walking or whether you are driving. Keep your head out of your cell phone so you are looking up and seeing what is going on. Walk in groups if possible or give a friend a call and say, ‘Hey, I’ll be there in 10 minutes,” Park said.

The app can also be followed on Twitter @SafeRedbirds, where community updates are posted.
