Let’s get this out of the way first, I have never been to an all inclusive resort or Mexico. Thanks to Direct Travel I spent 7 days with 50 central Illinoisans in Huatulco Mexico at Dreams Resort.
My room was nice with a fully stocked fridge of drinks and flowers on the bed and great balcony views.
I started each day up at 5am watching the sunrise from the infinity pool, the moon, stars and orange pink sun reflecting off of the glass like pool water.
By choice, I had Breakfast at 7am everyday.
The majority of each day was spent in lounge chairs by 1 of the 6 pools at the resort with endless waitstaff to bring you almost any cocktail you can imagine.
Don’t get me wrong there were plenty of opportunities to stay active with archery lessons, kayaks, paddle boards, yoga, pool dance lessons, karaoke, mezcal tastings and excursions but I needed a week of relaxation.
I spent some of my time walking the beach with my feet in the water….or maybe a lot of time walking the beach.
I participated in an authentic molé cooking class with 3 others off of the resort grounds. There is plenty to do on the resort but I like to venture out and I felt very safe doing so.
Speaking of food there is an endless supply at the resort restaurants: Seafood, steak, Italian, Asian, Mexican and buffet.
I walked around every pool everyday and it looked like there was fun being had by all.
I loved Mexico and loved the all inclusive experience. It’s 2022 and we are still in a pandemic so masks were worn, there were delays and language barriers at the airport and forms to fill out on paper and digitally. All of that is expected when you travel internationally and during a pandemic. Even considering the delays and bumps along the way, I’d go back in second….well not in a second, I gotta apply some aloe to my sun kissed skin for a bit.
I’m glad to be back in central Illinois but it’s so rewarding to travel the world!
Where we going next year?!?!?!?
