NORMAL – A high bond was set Monday night for a Pontiac man charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Normal late last year.
Bond was set at $250,000, requiring Geno Borrego, 23, to post $25,000 cash to be released from jail on two counts of criminal sexual assault.
Borrego is charged with sexually assaulting the woman on December 10 of last year knowing she was in a condition in which she was not able to give consent. Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner declined to provide other details about the woman’s condition.
Bleichner said the alleged victim was treated at a local hospital and staffers there notified police about the rape.
Both of the charges are Class 1 felonies, carrying mandatory prison sentences of four-to-15-years.
Borrego’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 25.
