NORMAL – Illinois State University is launching a new program to support the recruitment and retention of faculty members who promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.
At the tune of $4.5 million, Provost Anodover Tarhule said the Faculty Diversity Enhancement Program (FDEP) includes funding for mentoring and additional support.
“The program will help ensure the University community includes faculty who promote equity, diversity, and inclusion through their research, teaching, service and mentoring.”
According to a release, the program is seven years, focusing on new faculty recruitment in the first five years.
“FDEP is aimed at recruiting and retaining outstanding new faculty to enhance the diversity efforts in fields in which populations have been, and remain, underrepresented,” Tarhule added.
Faculty who participate in the program can receive a maximum of $20,000 per year for three years.
