LEROY – A former teacher at LeRoy High School has pleaded guilty to grooming a student.
Brandon Reynolds, 35, made an open plea, meaning there’s no agreement with the McLean County State’s Attorney’s office about a possible sentence.
At the time of his arrest last October, authorities said Reynolds used a cellphone in an attempt to solicit a minor to engage in sexual conduct. The crime happened in May of 2019.
Before pleading guilty, Reynolds had been scheduled to stand trial in April.
Grooming is a Class 4 felony, carrying maximum punishment of one to three years in prison. Reynolds is also eligible for probation or conditional discharge.
Reynolds will be sentenced in June.
