NORMAL – AFSCME Local 1110, the union that represents approximately 350 employees in Illinois State University janitorial, grounds, catering, dining center and retail dining areas, has overwhelmingly ratified a new contract.
More than 92% voted to approve the terms of an agreement reached last week on the brink of a campus-wide strike, according to a release from the union.
“It wasn’t easy, but by standing together in our union we made important strides toward nearly all our goals,” said Chuck Carver, ISU building service worker and president of AFSCME Local 1110.
The contract’s terms are retroactive to July 1, 2021 and run through June 30, 2025.
