BLOOMINGTON – Central Catholic High School looked to the Unit 5 School District to find its next principal.
Central Catholic announced Thursday that Chris McGraw will take over as principal July 1. McGraw has been principal since 2017 at Unit 5′s Evans Junior High School, and has worked in Unit 5 since 2006.
McGraw will be Central Catholic’s first principal under a new form of governance that includes a president. The principal is the school’s educational leader, while the president assumes the role of a chief executive overseeing business and financial planning, development, the school’s vision and strategic planning.
Central Catholic announced in March that its first president under the new system will be current principal Sean Foster. His promotion led to McGraw’s hiring.
“Chris brings vast experience, gifts of leadership and passion for his faith,” said Foster in a news release.
McGraw also issued a statement.
“My goal is to lead through collaborative, passionate, innovative, and engaging means to help to create a welcoming environment rich with opportunities for success for all students, staff, and families,” said McGraw.
McGraw attended Illinois State University as an undergraduate and graduate student. He holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education.
