BLOOMINGTON – Two Bloomington men were arrested for numerous drugs and weapons offenses after police broke up a party at a park in Normal.

Nakolis Spiller, 23, and Keon Spiller 21, of Bloomington, were arrested during a traffic stop after police broke up a party at around 4:44 p.m. Friday, April 29.

Normal Police say Naoklis was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle and possession of cannabis.

Keon was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of meth, and manufacture/delivery of cannabis.

On Friday, police were investigating a large party that had gathered at Underwood Park. Officers observed alcohol was being served and began dispersing the party.

As the party was dispersing, officers conducted a traffic stop due to an Illinois Vehicle Code violation. Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle and determined probable cause existed to search the vehicle.

A search turned up a Taurus brand handgun, an AR-15 Rifle, multiple loaded firearm magazines and loose ammunition as well as over 69 grams of cannabis packaged for individual sale and 10 pills of MDMA/Ecstasy.

Further investigation determined one suspect had additional cannabis on his person which was located at the McLean County Jail.

In total 166.5 grams of cannabis, 10 Ecstasy pills, 2 firearms and 41 rounds of ammunition were seized throughout this investigation.

Police also say a juvenile was also arrested in relation to this investigation.

“The arrests and seizures of illegal firearms and street drugs in this incident is a direct result of a multi-agency collaborative effort to keep our community safe,” Normal Police Chief Steve Petrilli said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Normal Police Department at 309-454-9535.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
