BLOOMINGTON – The world’s largest Corvette show is returning to its roots this weekend in the twin cities for the first time since the ’70s.
Bloomington Gold, known for drawing 2,000 Corvettes and over 10,000 people, returns to Bloomington from June 10 – 11.
The two-day event kicks off Friday night with a Gala featuring prime Corvettes at the Brown Ballroom at Illinois State University.
“Saturday evening at 5 p.m., we will be launching one of our famous parades, or what we call a ‘Gold tour,'” Bloomington Gold President Guy Larsen said on the Afternoon Show. “We will head North up to old Route 66. And the cars are going to Route 6 to Towanda. Then they are going to head north around Lake Bloomington and then head South toward Normal.”
After the parade, the Town of Normal is throwing a block party with food and drink vendors.
According to a news release, the direct economic impact of Bloomington Gold is over $1 million.
