BLOOMINGTON – Authorities were called early Wednesday morning near Downtown Bloomington for a fire at the corner of Market and Lee Streets.
A building, which was under construction, was on fire and the roof had partially collapsed. Public Information Officer Frank Friend told our news partner HOI ABC the building was vacant.
No firefighters were hurt and the call came in around shift change.
“Firefighters who are going off-shift, and so we had a bunch of firefighters who were coming on-shift, and so because of that, um, we wanna make sure the guys that are coming off-shift if they’ve worked the first full 24, they’re staying hydrated,” said Friend.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. It is also unclear if the building will be demolished.
