NORMAL – The Normal Township Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Supervisor Sarah Grammer on Thursday, and named a long-time Illinois State University administrator as her replacement.
Grammer said in a Facebook post that she’s resigning because her family is moving to Wisconsin. Grammer, a Democrat, was first elected as township supervisor in 2017, and was re-elected last year.
At a special meeting on Thursday, trustees appointed Jess Ray to replace Grammer. Ray was recently hired as director of ARC, the township-run Activity and Recreation Center for older adults.
Ray has also served on the Normal Public Library Board and retired in January as ISU’s registrar and director of Veterans and Military Services.
Ray worked 30 years at ISU, according to the university’s website.
