BLOOMINGTON – A recent uptick in book boxes being set on fire have spread throughout the Twin City area. Little libraries throughout Bloomington-Normal have recently been set ablaze and burned to the ground.

A victim of burned little libraries throughout Bloomington, Bob Williams, doesn’t understand the recent hate.

“I was pretty ticked off. Really if you don’t like it just ignore it. You don’t have to destroy what some else enjoys,” Williams said.

There are over 40 little libraries throughout Bloomington-Normal, with a few being burned down over the past week. Williams doesn’t think he will continue his hobby with the recent hate.

“I think I am just going to give it up for the time being because if someone is going to keep burning them down until something is done about it.”

Local residents who notice a burning little library or suspicious activity linked to the incidents are encouraged to contact your local police.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
