BLOOMINGTON – A major road project in Bloomington has a green light, and plenty of interest, based on a meeting held Wednesday night.
IDOT held a public info session at Bloomington Junior High School.
Around 100 people were there for details on Illinois Route 9 improvements, stretching from Market and Martin Luther King Drive going east to Empire and Carnahan Drive.
IDOT Project Support Engineer Brian Hogan says 450 ADA ramps will be added at at every intersection, plus 22 traffic lights will see improvements.
The improvements are expected to cost at least $15 million.
IDOT hopes to start the 7.5 mile resurfacing and pavement replacement project in 2024.
