SPRINGFIELD – This sounds like a new way to do news.
The non-profit model is embraced by, among others, the Better Government Association, whose president is David Greising. “You apply the same rigor (in “solutions journalism”) that you apply in investigative reporting to problems in government to finding out what has been tried elsewhere and what has been tried locally, and (determine whether) the reforms that have happened are really as good as the press releases claim they are.”
Greising said BGA sometimes partners with the traditional media, those who are sometimes scrambling financially.
Speaking to Southern Illinois University’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, Greising said for those who say, you’re beholden to Republican mega-donor Ken Griffin, his answer is, Gov Pritzker gives us even more money.
