NORMAL – School is getting underway this week for many students in McLean County and the move-in process is still ongoing over at Illinois State University.
Around 6,000 students will move-in to the dorms this week at ISU. Students started arriving to campus earlier this week and move-in continues through Aug. 21. About 300 volunteers, including students, staff, faculty, Illinois State athletics teams, registered student organizations, and community members will be on hand during the week to assist students and their families.
Temporary traffic patterns and some street closures are in place through Aug. 21. Fell Avenue will be closed between Mulberry Street and College Avenue and will be southbound only between Mulberry Street and Beaufort Street. Classes at ISU start Aug. 22.
Meanwhile, other schools across the county will be in session this week. Aug. 17 is the first day of school for Unit 5, Ridgeview, LeRoy, Lexington, and Olympia K-12 students. Students in District 87, Tri-Valley and Heyworth will have the first day of class on Aug. 18.
