BLOOMINGTON – A long-time Central Illinois educator has been chosen as District 87′s next administrator in charge of teaching and learning.
The school board Wednesday night approved a three-year contract with Nicole Rummel in which she will be paid a $130,000 salary during the first year.
Rummel will replace Diane Wolf, who’s retiring July 1.
Rummel is currently an assistant superintendent of Mahomet-Seymour CUSD #3 in Mahomet, and before that she was director of instruction of El Paso Gridley schools.
Rummel has worked in public education for 23 years.
“Dr. Rummel brings an outstanding track record of demonstrated leadership in the areas of teaching and learning. She has led curriculum adoptions and reviews, provided leadership to staff in implementing classroom best practices, and has successful experience leading curriculum initiatives at all grade levels in a large unit school district,” said Superintendent David Mouser in a prepared statement.
Rummel also released a statement.
“First and foremost, it is about the students. Bloomington District 87 has a track record of putting students first, all students. Second, there is a work climate where people want to be there,” Rummel said.
“The work of teaching and learning is hard work that can be balanced with a positive work environment. I was elated to hear so many positive remarks pertaining to the work environment throughout the district,” she added.
