Gas prices are on the rise at the start of the new year

BLOOMINGTON – At the start of the new year, prices at the pump are rising.

According to GasBuddy, prices across the state are up 10 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $3.24 per gallon.

In a survey of over 4,300 stations in Illinois, prices are 40 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and eight cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

On the national stage, diesel prices are down one cent over the past week, while the national average stands at $4.67 per gallon.
