SPRINGFIELD – Rookie U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-Springfield) was in her district Tuesday to convene an agriculture roundtable.
Budzinski said she learned a lot.
“What we were able to pull together with our agricultural advisory council is an eclectic group of voices, all people who touch the agricultural space. Agriculture is critically important to this district. We had folks from the corn and soybean commodities, the pork producers, the Farm Bureau.”
Budzinski says as a member of the House Agriculture Committee, she is eager to get to work on a new Farm Bill, adding that she believes agriculture holds the same priority in Congress, regardless of which party is in the majority.
And on the news of the day, Budzinski said she supports her former boss, President Biden, and his support of Ukraine; and dismissed as “political noise” the arguing between another old boss of hers, Gov. JB Pritzker, and his Florida counterpart, Ron DeSantis. Republican DeSantis paid a visit to Illinois Monday.
