Two vehicle crash leaves one dead in McLean County

MCLEAN COUNTY – One person is dead, and another is in the hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 overnight.

Illinois State Police say it happened on I-55 Southbound near LaGrange Road, or mile post 146 near McLean, just before 2 AM.

The crash involved a box truck and a truck-tractor semi-trailer.

ISP says the box truck driver died at the scene. The semi driver was taken to the hospital, where their condition is unknown.

I-55 Southbound was shut down for nearly five hours for the investigation.

It reopened around 7:45 AM.

No further information has been released.
