SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Tollway is gearing up for a busy 4th of July holiday weekend.
More than nine million vehicles are expected on the tollway system from Friday through July 4.
Spokesperson Dan Rozek says they are asking for the public’s help to keep people safe on the roads.
“Drivers really need to slow down in construction work zones, be alert for workers and construction equipment, and avoid distracted driving which is illegal and dangerous.”
Rozek says construction will be suspended through the fourth where possible but warns that work zones on I-294 will likely still affect traffic.
