SPRINGFIELD – Drivers can expect to see increased police patrols through the Fourth of July holiday.
State and local police are boosting patrols to help keep the public safe out on the roads says Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson Paul Wappel.
“The Drive Sober, Get Pulled Over campaign is underway and will be through July 5,” said Wappel. “Which means there is zero tolerance for anybody driving impaired by alcohol, marijuana or any other drugs. Police will be ticketing anybody that is driving impaired.”
Over last year’s 4th of July holiday in Illinois, there were 19 crashes leaving 20 people dead.
