SPRINGFIELD – Continuing to make Illinois the Midwest’s leader for abortions, Gov. JB Pritzker Monday announced more measures aimed at keeping abortions safe.
Megan Jeyifo, director of the Chicago Abortion Fund, notes that since Roe v. Wade was overturned last year, the number of people coming to Illinois from elsewhere to access abortions has skyrocketed.
“No one should have to travel to a city they have never been in to access health care, but this is our reality,” she said, “and the fallout from this horrific decision.”
The governor unveiled a program to help women who need more extensive care than their clinic can provide – this is called the Complex Abortion Regional Line for Access – CARLA.
