SPRINGFIELD – Changes to the calendar are part of the 2023 Illinois State Fair. And Ag Day is moving from the sixth day of the fair (Tuesday of fair week) to the second day – in this case, Friday, Aug. 11.
“One of the things that we have been asked forever,” said state agriculture director Jerry Costello, “when school starts keeps moving up. And that’s been an issue with Ag Day at the fair.”
That way, Costello says, there’s less of a chance of a conflict with school-age children showing their livestock and other projects.
Another change: the Governor’s Sale of Champions takes place Wednesday the 16th – Governor’s Day – as opposed to Ag Day.
The state fair in Springfield runs Aug. 10-20.
