SPRINGFIELD – It’s never a bad time to learn about election security. An Illinois House panel is learning about what’s being done.

“When (the State Board of Elections) was hacked years ago,” said State Rep. Carol Ammons (D-Urbana), what was the primary concern, and what can we share with the public about what was done?”

“Virtually everything changed about how data is handled at the State Board of Elections following that incident in 2016,” said the board’s spokesman, Matt Dietrich. “No votes were affected. We had no reports from any voter of identity theft or other suspicious activity.”

One aspect of election security in Illinois is that votes are not cast online.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
