BLOOMINGTON – Authorities in Bloomington are working to find the source of a swatting call towards Bloomington High School Wednesday morning.
Police say the call against the High School and other businesses in town was designed to create panic and unnecessary disruption.
After a short investigation, BPD determined the call was not a credible threat.
“As always, we take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously. We are sharing this information to keep our families informed with factual information, rather than rumors,” said Gina Lavazza, Director of Communications at District 87.
“While we do not wish to provide this senseless act any further attention, we do want to make sure that our parents/guardians are informed. We will continue to make the safety and security of our schools a top priority.”
Even though the call was not a credible threat, there was an increased police presence at the high school Wednesday afternoon.
The case remains under investigation.
