NORMAL – One of Normal’s top leaders is promoting three city employees to top leadership positions for interim roles.

Normal City Manager Pam Reece announced that Brian Day, the Town corporation counsel, will serve as the acting assistant city manager.

Earlier this year, former Assistant City Manager Eric Hanson left his position in Normal for the City Manager position in Galesburg.

Reece says a search for the next assistant city manager will launch in early 2024.

In addition, Reece tabbed Finance Director Andrew Huhn to oversee economic development responsibilities.

The current deputy corporation counsel, Jason Querciagrossa, will serve as interim corporation counsel.

The city estimates the permanent replacement for the positions could take six to nine months to complete.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
