SPRINGFIELD – Covid is part of our life now. And the state’s chief medical officer says the now-familiar precautions – frequent handwashing, being careful about being in groups – still apply as you consider holiday dinners and parties.
“Do what it takes to keep yourself safe this holiday season,” says Dr. Arti Barnes of the Illinois Department of Public Health. “That includes getting up to date on your vaccinations, whether that’s flu, covid, or, if applicable to you, even the RSV vaccine. And know where to tap in to have treatment for the flu or covid if needed.”
Barnes also promotes a “test to treat” site, co-sponsored by IDPH and the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
