ILLINOIS – Illinois is among the states with the highest number of doomsday preppers, according to a new study.

Doomsday prepping can range from stockpiling food and water to constructing a bomb shelter. With 16% of Illinois residents prepping for doomsday in 2023, Illinois ranks 9th in the country for doomsday prepping.

This pales in comparison to Nebraska, where 45% of residents partake in doomsday prepping.

Most surveyed are worried about natural disasters more than economic collapse or another pandemic.

On average, U.S. and Canadian citizens spend $441 preparing for a doomsday event.

The top 10 can be found below:

  • Nebraska: 45%
  • Maine: 43%
  • Arizona: 42%
  • Missouri: 27%
  • Arkansas: 25%
  • North Carolina: 18%
  • Florida: 17%
  • Illinois: 16%
  • Maryland: 15%

Only 9% of Americans identify as preppers despite 20% of residents taking preparation action.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
