Unidentified man dies in van fire in Dwight

DWIGHT – Authorities in Dwight want to learn how a vehicle fire claimed the life of an unidentified man.

Dwight Police and Fire responded to the Love’s Travel Center at 12 W. Northbrook Drive around 3 a.m. for a vehicle on fire.

Once on the scene, authorities found a fully engulfed cargo van.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the remains of the unidentified man.

An autopsy took place Thursday afternoon to match the man with previous dental records for identification.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Grundy County Coroner’s Office are investigating the fire.
