LINCOLN – Fire officials in Lincoln warn the public not to be alarmed when they see smoke near one of the town’s parks.
Each year, fire officials conduct extensive controlled burns at Kickapoo Park to manage prairie grass.
Officials report the burning creates huge smoke plumes that generate calls to dispatch.
Authorities are encouraging residents not to call 911 as the park has trained personnel onside performing the burns.
Fire officials plan to wrap up the controlled burns Thursday afternoon.
