BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Police Department announced some notable arrests that happened over the past week via a Facebook post.
On March 4, officers went to the 1300 block of W. Monroe Street for reports of a stabbing. Two people were found to be fighting before officers broke it up. One of the men was holding a large knife and had been witnessed striking the other with a blunt weapon. The 65-year-old suspect was cited for several weapons, battery, and assault charges.
On March 7, multiple violent arrests were made. Around 9 a.m. on that day, officers were dispatched to Willedrob Road to assist a state agency. The suspect, who is registered as a sexually violent person, had armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself in the building. He initially refused to comply with orders to drop the knife.
It took a member of the Bloomington Police Crisis Negotiation Unit to get the suspect to comply. He was arrested without incident and cited for two counts of aggravated battery to a state employee.
On the same day around 4 p.m., police were sent to the 400 block of Turnberry Drive for reports of a domestic incident. After investigating, officers developed probably cause to to arrest the suspect. He resisted before fleeing on foot. The officers were able to take him into custody after a foot chase. He was found to have a loaded handgun on his person.
The 32-year-old suspect has been cited for domestic battery bodily harm with a prior conviction, two counts of resisting a police officer, two counts aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm with defaced serial number.
In addition, officers made 10 DUI arrests between March 3 and March 9.
