IDOT workers find missing Springfield woman dead next to I-55 on-ramp

SPRINGFIELD – A missing Springfield woman is the person found dead next to Interstate 55 in Springfield Wednesday.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon identified Teresa Ann Coleman, 54, on Thursday.

According to WCIA TV, Allmon said the preliminary findings indicate homicide as the cause of Coleman’s death.

Illinois Department of Transportation workers found Coleman’s body by the on-ramp at Stevenson Drive.

An investigation is underway by Illinois State Police and the Springfield Police Department.
