Tazewell County Coroner identifies deadly crash victim

PEKIN – Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley has identified the victim of Sunday’s nights one-car crash.

According to Hanley’s Facebook, 51-year-old Dennis Speck of Mapleton death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries due to the car crash.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Illinois Route 9 and Mennonite Church Road in rural Pekin around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Speck was pronounced dead at the scene around 3 p.m.

Toxicology is pending.

The case is still under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

Speck was a volunteer wrestling coach at Illini Bluffs Middle School.
