CHAMPAIGN – The University of Illinois Board of Trustees voted Thursday morning to extend the contract of the University of Illinois System President.

The new three-year deal will keep President Tim Killeen in the university system until at least 2027.

Under the new contract, beginning July 1, President Killen keeps his current salary of $916,770.

“The success of everyone across the system – our trustees included – in building record enrollment, growing access, holding down student costs, driving innovative research, and working with state leaders to propel our universities forward is deeply inspiring,” said President Killen. “We are really firing on all cylinders.”

Additionally, President Killen will be eligible for any university merit-based salary program that does not exceed what is available for all system administrators.

President Killen has served as the system President since 2015.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
