PONTIAC – The Pontiac Police Department encouraged residents to avoid part of Howard Street due to a gas leak on Tuesday.
According to Pontiac Police Assistant Chief Brad Baird, The Pontiac Fire Department first received the call about the leak at 9:54 a.m. A company was installing internet cable along the roadway when they allegedly hit a gas line.
Both the Pontiac Fire and Police Department responded to the scene and encouraged residents to avoid Howard Street between Chicago and Locust Streets.
Baird said the incident was resolved within half an hour, and crews left the scene by 10:52 a.m.
No injuries related to this incident have been reported at this time.
