BLOOMINGTON – Grossinger Motors Arena will become a cashless venue beginning next month so leave those dollar bills at home, the city said in a news release Thursday.

The city’s arts and entertainment department said the move, which goes into effect May 1, will “minimize wait times and provide guests with a better overall experience at each event.”

Purchases will be possible with cards or with mobile payment at the venue. Forms of payments accepted at parking facilities as well as merchandise areas may still vary per event.

“We are looking to create a safer, more streamlined environment for patrons to enjoy entertainment in, and this is a step toward that goal,” said Anthony Nelson, Bloomington’s director of arts and entertainment.

Additional information about the venue as well as upcoming shows can be found by visiting www.grossingermotorsarena.com or by calling the Arts & Entertainment Box Office at (309) 434-2777.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
